Wallare architectures: from 10 to 200 spaces, with solar and storage

Every Wallare installation shares the same foundation: charge points that double as repeaters in a wireless mesh, and one gateway per site that handles communications and shares out the power. On top of that, the architecture changes with the site. These are the five most common.

1. Dense underground car park

For: public, workplace or residential car parks with dozens or hundreds of spaces.

  • A wall-mounted Wallare Park at every space, 7.4 kW single-phase.
  • The mesh runs across levels and pillars; each point repeats the signal of the last. No mobile coverage or data cabling needed underground.
  • One gateway with Ethernet or 4G/5G connects the whole car park to the management system.
  • The gateway shares the contracted capacity across connected cars according to their departure times.

This is the architecture running today in Barcelona’s municipal car parks: the B:SM case.

2. Surface car park

For: hospitals, schools, public facilities and open-air car parks.

  • Wallare Pole: two points on one post, anchoring included.
  • Same mesh and gateway as underground.
  • IP54 / IK10 enclosure and −10 to +50 °C operating range for outdoor use.

3. Building with solar and storage

For: commercial buildings, warehouses and car parks with on-site generation.

  • The gateway reads the installation’s power bus: grid supply, solar output, building load and stationary battery.
  • With that, it decides in real time how much power to give the cars: charging on midday solar surplus, backing off at building peaks, shifting load to off-peak tariffs.
  • With V2G, the vehicle can also give energy back to the building when it pays to.

This is the architecture that gets the most out of controlling the asset: the same contracted capacity serves more cars.

4. Residential building

For: multi-unit residential car parks run by a property manager.

  • One installation for the whole building, using the shared supply’s capacity without affecting other loads.
  • Each resident who wants to charge joins by cabling from the nearest box and configuring the point; no need to redo the installation.
  • The property manager handles usage-based billing; each resident can choose their own tariff.

More in One installation, each resident on their own tariff.

5. Mixed fleet

For: company or municipal fleets with cars, vans and light vehicles.

  • Wallare Park for cars and vans; Wallare Schuko (3.7 kW) for motorbikes and light vehicles, on the same network.
  • Charging priority per vehicle based on departure time and energy needed.

More in Fleets.

What stays the same in all of them

  • Open integration. Each point is an OCPP 2.x station that connects to the owner’s system, a contracted operator’s or a public authority’s.
  • Scaling without site work. From 10 to 200 spaces by adding and configuring points.
  • Local control. If the internet drops, power sharing keeps running in the gateway.
  • 24-hour service. Unit replacement by the customer’s own staff.
